Facebook Groups:

“Mat-Su Valley News” is the biggest & best local Facebook group! It started approximately 10 years ago and there are over 32,000 members:

There are many other local Facebook groups too including “Glenn Highway Traffic Report,””What’s Important in the Mat-Su,” “Borough Budget Watch,” “Mat-Su Budget Watch,” and “Stop Valley Thieves.”


Frontiersman Newspaper: is printed on Wednesdays, Friday, and Sundays.

Anchorage Daily News: is printed daily except Saturday.

The People’s Paper/Make a Scene: is a monthly free entertainment & political newspaper.

Television Stations:

There are no tv stations in the Valley but the Anchorage stations do a good job of covering Valley issues.

Update – Channel 2 (KTUU) and Channel 11 (KTVA) have merged their news operations. Their tv news shows can be seen on both channels in the morning and evening. Their new (combined) website is:

Radio Stations:

Alaska Public Media:

Note: APM is the statewide umbrella group for public radio and tv. KAKM (Channel 7) is the Anchorage based PBS television station. KSKA (91.1) is the Anchorage based NPR radio station. KNBA (90.3) is a commercial free public radio station too but it does not carry the NPR shows. It plays mostly music.

The weekday evening “Alaska Public Radio News” is a 30 minute compilation of the best stories from all of the public radio stations throughout Alaska.

Radio Free Palmer/Big Cabbage Radio/Glacier View radio at KVRF 89.5 and 89.7 (Palmer & Sutton) and KGVC 91.5 (Glacier View) –

Big Cabbage radio has many talk shows which discuss local events such as “Valley Edition.”

KTNA in Talkeetna:

The Pass Radio Station: This station is affiliated with The People’s Paper/Make a Scene.
